It all started with a dream and lack of good sense. Dissatisfied with the rat race, Andrew and Richelle began building up Gotham Farms in September 2020. Both Andrew and Richelle spent their childhoods on farms; however, both moved away after high school to pursue "the dream". After having spent the past 12+ years in the work force (Andrew in Power Engineering and Richelle in Laboratory Sciences) and talking about one day owning some land of their own they decided it was time to make the leap as tomorrow is never a guarantee. For now they will be keeping their day jobs but hope to one day expand to the point where they can focus solely on Gotham Farms and prove that this isn't just a crazy dream.
As Andrew grew up raising sheep he brings small animal expertise to the field, mechanical ability and a whole lot of drive. Richelle brings a love of animals, research and the willingness to get dirty and learn something new.
Andrew's passion outside of the farm is hunting and the outdoors. Andrew can happily spend his days scouting for game and foraging for mushrooms. Although Richelle also hunts, her new obsession is fly fishing (albeit poorly) to go along with her decades old motorcycling habit.
Daisy was born March 1, 2021 and is Shep's apprentice security guard. She is a livestock guardian mix breed (Great Pyrenees, Maremma, Kangal and Ovarchka) who is showing promise but has about 2 years to go before she can be considered trustworthy with the livestock. We have high hopes for this sweet girl.
Shep aka Shepper Pepper is a Maremma Sheepdog (Maremmano-Abruzzese) who came to us in April 2021 as a 2-year-old experienced livestock guardian. Shep grew up north of Grande Prairie on a sheep farm and found himself needing a new home when his people had to move to town. We were lucky enough to be able to bring this big lovebug home and he has been a valuable part of the Gotham Family as our Head of Security ever since. Shep is fantastic at his job of keeping the goats safe and we are so thankful to have him.
Gone but never forgotten. The yard will never be the same without our Molly.
Allegedly for mouse control, these two spend more time holding down the deck than doing their job. Currently accepting applications for their replacements.
